with the morning rays
i'm often dragged
to brighter days when
the sun was dripping light
you blinked your eyes
i averted mine
we weren't so different then
you felt the sweat
dampen my dress
but the joke you told
was already old
before you spoke it
flowers bloom and blow
at funerals
so beautiful
but on my wedding day
that same bouquet
seemed out of place
the way he held my wrist
and led me in
it made my skin crawl
to be treated like a gift
some man had been
presented with
this globe's been reeling slow
but it seems i'd known
you lives ago
and all the love we spent
i now regret
but can't forget
so as my boys will fight
i'll wait outside
and watch the sky
and hope the sun will march
along its arc
and bring the dark in
bring the dark in

Takes me back to my high school classroom during the days of binging Inio Asano's old manga scanlations before anything was licensed. At that time, I was discovering many kinds of Asian shoegaze, but I've never heard anything like this. Makes me think of Pasteboard, Supecar, and Midnight Pingpong a bit, and it's funny bc the first two I listen have blue album covers too. Lu
