you find yourself remembering when
your days were so much better than they've been
the trees were dressed in brown and gold and red
her body lay beside you in your bed
her form suggested she was human
but lately you were never quite convinced
her skin was soft as light and as you kissed
your fingers formed a bracelet 'round her wrist
you wish you could return to her and then
you realize it did not happen
you realize it did not happen
you realize it did not happen
